We caught up with Dr Chanpreet Kalsi to talk about her journey in dentistry, her passion for helping anxious patients feel at ease, and what makes caring for Canary Wharf patients so special to her.

Q1. Working as a dentist in Canary Wharf, what do you love most about caring for patients in this area?

What I love most is that this isn’t just where I work, it’s where I live. My children go to school locally, and this community genuinely feels like home. Even though Canary Wharf sits in the middle of a huge, fast-paced city, it has a real village feel, and I feel very connected to the people here. I often joke that I’m the E14 “village dentist,” and I take a lot of pride in caring for families and patients I see around the neighbourhood day to day.

Q2. Many patients feel nervous about visiting the dentist. How do you help people who feel anxious or fearful feel more at ease?

I’ve spent over a decade treating dental-phobic patients, so anxiety is something I take very seriously. While I do offer sedation where appropriate, I don’t believe it’s the answer for everyone. A huge part of easing fear comes from listening, taking things at the patient’s pace, and building trust over time. Being a mother has also shaped how I practise. I’m naturally patient, reassuring, and very aware of how important it is for people to feel safe and understood. That approach benefits all my patients, not just those who are anxious.

Q3. What’s your personal approach to dentistry, and what do you want patients to feel when they’re in the chair with you?

Early in my career, my first boss gave me advice that has stayed with me ever since: treat every person in your chair exactly how you would want to be treated yourself. That principle guides everything I do. I want patients to feel respected, listened to, and genuinely cared for, never rushed or judged. If someone leaves feeling calm, informed, and confident in their care, then I know I’ve done my job properly.

Q4. You and Dr Parneet opened Savona Dental together, what was important to you when designing the clinic and patient experience?

We wanted Savona Dental to feel like an oasis in the middle of a busy metropolis. Canary Wharf can be intense and fast-moving, so it was important to create a space where patients immediately feel calm and relaxed. The high ceilings, wood panelling, greenery, and carefully chosen furnishings all contribute to that sense of escape. Everything was designed with patient comfort in mind, and I think that feeling really comes through the moment you walk in.

Q5. Outside of dentistry, how do you like to unwind or spend time when you’re not at the clinic?

I love staying active and looking after my health, whether that’s exercising or dancing. I also really enjoy cooking homemade meals, travelling, and spending time with art and creativity. But above all, my favourite time is spent with my husband and our two boys. That’s what truly helps me recharge and keeps everything in perspective.

Why Savona Dental Opened in Canary Wharf

Savona Dental was founded by Dr Parneet Sehmi, an award-winning London dentist and multi-site practice owner, and his wife Dr Chanpreet Kalsi.

After building Hermes Dentist into one of Pimlico’s most trusted five-star practices, the couple opened Savona Dental to bring their shared vision to Canary Wharf.

The clinic was designed and built from the ground up to support busy London professionals and anxious patients, with flexible appointments, advanced technology and a genuinely personal approach.
